NFC TIMES Exclusive – The low number of mobile payment users may have little to do with security, one researcher says.
Managing director for payment insights for Auriemma Consulting Group, Marianne Berry, said the firm’s research has shown it is more of a lack of interest on part of consumers rather than a fear by consumers of putting their payments cards on their smartphones.
“I think that most people who are nonusers simply just haven’t really come across any compelling reason to use it,” she told NFC Times. “Most merchants don’t really advertise it. Up until now there haven’t been much in the way of incentives or promotions to use it, and people’s cards continue to work just fine.”
