NFC TIMES Exclusive Insight – TAIPEI, Taiwan: Japanese credit card company JCB will participate early next year in a mobile wallet from the Taiwan Mobile Payment banking joint venture, marking the first time JCB will support host card emulation in a mobile payments service.
The joint venture launched the payments service–soon to be renamed “Taiwan Pay Mobile Payment”–last year and has, at present, 16 Taiwanese banks making their credit cards available in the HCE-enabled wallet. The wallet, which has been called t wallet, will change its name at the first of the year. The JCB service is schedule to launch during the first quarter.
The venture, which includes around 30 banks and three banking groups, added debit cards from Taiwan’s domestic debit scheme, as well as tokenization complying with the EMVCo specifications earlier this year.
