NFC Times Exclusive Insight – Taiwan’s telco-led TSM joint venture, Alliance Digital Tech Co., finally says it is ready to launch its TSM platforms–nearly two years after it hired a TSM vendor to build them. But the launch may have come too late for the market.
ADTC said it has soft launched the SIM-based TSM and its RicoPay wallet app this week, starting registration for a pilot with 3,000 users across five telcos in the joint venture. The launch is well behind schedule and comes a year after another TSM joint venture–set up by Taiwan’s major banks and banking groups–began running its own TSM platform. The banking group, Taiwan Mobile Payment, or TWMP, now has announced it will be ready to launch an additional HCE platform by the end of the year.
At least part of the delays in the telco TSM platforms were caused by TSM vendor Safran Morpho, which probably overestimated the challenges of integrating five telcos with its TSM technology, among other problems, said sources.
