NFC Times Exclusive – Czech banks are looking to capitalize on a growing contactless point-of-sale infrastructure in the country, with two of the five largest banks there having already launched HCE-based mobile payments and the others looking to join the market, NFC Times has learned.
CSOB, the Czech Republic’s second largest bank by assets last year, according to BanksDaily.com, was the first to launch, in June, with a separate mobile payments wallet app called NaNákupy, hoping to get one step ahead of its competitors, which were looking to launch their own HCE-based NFC payments services.
The Czech Republic's third largest bank by assets, Komercní banka, or KB, owned by France-based Société Générale, quickly followed by adding HCE payments to its mobile banking app.
