NFC TIMES Exclusive Insight – PayPal and Google announced a deal that promises to finally bring HCE payments to U.S. PayPal account holders, after delays–enabling users to pay with PayPal through Android Pay.
PayPal will almost certainly use an acceptance application and infrastructure already supported on contactless point-of-sale terminals in the U.S., probably through Discover Financial Services.
The two Silicon Valley giants announced the move Tuesday, which also includes support for in-app payments, while PayPal also disclosed separate plans to enable support for PayPal wallet users to pay with credit and debit cards from a large issuer, Wells Fargo. The Wells Fargo card payments would also use HCE. PayPal had earlier announced a deal with Citi.
