Turkcell’s chief of new technology, who played a key role in the launch of Turkcell’s mobile wallet, has left the telco to join a venture capital firm.
Cenk Bayrakdar, who served in the post starting in May 2011, was previously a chief of product and services. He joined Revo Capital as a managing partner earlier this year, working in Istanbul. Sources told NFC Times he had differences of opinion with Turkcell’s CEO, but his departure was not connected to performance of the mobile wallet, which has experienced some false starts in take-up of the NFC applications by subscribers.
Meanwhile, Ergi Şener, who had served as senior product manager of the Turkcell Wallet since 2010, left the telco in April to take up other duties in business development with MasterCard in Turkey. Hakan Tatlici has taken his place.
