NFC Times Exclusive – The high penetration of contactless point-of-sale terminals and high use of contactless bank cards in Poland has spurred the launch of HCE mobile wallets by some Polish banks, but use does not appear to be taking off yet–at least if one bank’s project is any guide.
Eurobank Poland, a subsidiary of France-based Groupe Société Générale, followed the lead of some major banks in the country to launch its own HCE-based mobile wallet in February. Activations, however, still account for a small fraction of its total mobile-banking customer base, NFC Times has learned.
Eurobank is focusing on Android since the platform is by far the most popular smartphone operating system among Eurobank's mobile banking customers, accounting for roughly 80% to 85% of the users.
