MasterCard Worldwide has hired the executive who heads the NFC and mobile-money transfer programs for France Telecom-Orange group to oversee its mobile business, NFC Times has learned.
Mung-Ki Woo, vice president of the Orange group's electronic payments and transactions unit, is to head up all of MasterCard’s mobile payment and m-commerce business, sources said.
Woo is expected to report directly to Ed McLaughlin, chief emerging payments officer, which would bypass Geoff Iddison, group executive for innovative platforms for e-commerce and mobile. It’s unclear whether the move signals a restructuring in MasterCard’s emerging payments unit. Woo, who is still at Orange, will likely assume the new post in the coming days.
