NFC TIMES Exclusive – Major League Baseball in the U.S. may roll out NFC mobile ticketing next year as part of Apple Pay, although it’s unclear how many stadiums or other venues would be involved, sources told NFC Times.
Tickets.com, part of MLB Advanced Media, the internet and digital media arm of Major League Baseball, said it is ready to offer NFC ticketing beginning in the 2018 season. The NFC ticketing is part of Tickets.com’s larger ticketing, payment, and access control platform, called “Alfred.” There are 23 Major League Baseball stadiums around the U.S. belonging to teams with which Tickets.com has a partnership.
Alfred could launch as early as the fall of 2017 at a pre-World Series event, Tickets.com president and CEO Joe Scoti told NFC Times.
