European Processor Hires Cassis for TSM Platform
France-based transaction processor Atos Worldline announced today that it has hired Cassis International to enable it to offer trusted service management to its customers in Europe.
The company said it signed an agreement to use Cassis’ TSM platform to include trusted service management as part of its offer to banking and other customers planning to introduce mobile payment, ticketing or loyalty programs on NFC phones or bridge technologies.
"We are integrating TSM services in our offers for companies for whom we are already delivering services, such as mobile banking and card issuing, processing," Eric Maurel, in charge of the development of NFC services for Atos Worldline, told NFC Times.
Atos Worldline, part of France-based IT services provider Atos Origin, is the dominant processor in Belgium and also serves as an acquirer and issuer of cards for banks. It also has operations in France, Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Worldline also processes transactions for transit authorities and sells point-of-sale terminals. It has more than €800 million (US$1.1 billion) in annual revenue.
Maurel said that the company believes that “NFC (will) develop massively,” which is why it is planning to offer TSM services for the provisioning and management of payment, ticketing and loyalty applications on NFC phones and related technologies.
Earlier this week, U.S.-based processor TSYS also announced that it would partner with Cassis to offer TSM services to its banking and other customers in the United States and Canada.
Singapore-based Cassis has provided TSM services for a couple of the only rollouts of contactless-mobile payment so far, in South Korea, plus a small project in Malaysia. But it has only a small presence in Europe, mainly through a contract in Turkey. In Europe, it goes up against France-based Gemalto and Oberthur Technologies, as well as Venyon, owned by Germany-based Giesecke & Devrient.
