U.S.-based Mozido has acquired majority ownership of SK C&C USA, known as CorFire, giving the Austin-based supplier of cloud-based, white-label mobile payments and commerce products NFC technology.
A Mozido spokeswoman told NFC Times that the company is interested in gaining access to CorFire’s customer base of retailers and mobile network operators. CorFire, formerly a wholly owned unit of South Korean IT services provider SK C&C, provided the non-NFC mobile wallet technology for quick-serve chain Dunkin’ Donuts, as well as wallets supporting NFC payments from UK-based mobile operator group Vodafone and German telco E-Plus, the latter acquired this year by Telefónica.
CorFire is also providing a service provider-TSM platform to U.S. mobile carrier AT&T for non-payments NFC applications and also a SP-TSM platform under license for a co-branded payment service launched by one or more Vodafone branch operators in Europe.
