NFC TIMES Exclusive Insight – Some U.S. restaurant chains plan to integrate their white-label loyalty platform with Apple Pay by the end of the year, and the program will use the NFC interface to enable users to tap to pay and collect or redeem loyalty points with as little as one tap, NFC Times has learned.
The addition comes amid what may be the beginning of an initiative by Apple to offer more value-added services for Apple Pay users, as the tech giant struggles with stagnant use of its Apple Pay service in the U.S.
Apple last week offered Apple Pay users discounts ranging from 10% to 25% at nearly 40 small merchants in San Francisco during a three-day “Lose your wallet” promotion that ended Saturday.
