David W. Schropfer is a Founding Partner at the Luciano Group, and the author of the book, The Smartphone Wallet- Understanding the Disruption Ahead, which is the first book on this topic written for consumers and retailers. The book explains that the multi-trillion dollar payments industry is being challenged, and companies with significant resources are actively positioning themselves to claim their stake.
Mr. Schropfer delivers keynote addresses, participates in expert panels, and is quoted frequently in media and industry publications on the rapidly evolving topic of Mobile Payments.
Mr. Schropfer is an international business leader with almost two decades of management experience ranging from telecommunications to payment systems. Since co-founding the Luciano Group – a leading international consulting firm - in 2005, he has been responsible for strategic development and negotiation for the firm and its clients in the areas of mobile payments, partnership agreements, and interconnections.
Prior to founding The Luciano Group, Mr. Schropfer was Senior Vice President of IDT (NYSE: IDT), and responsible for the $84 Million International Business Division. In this role, Mr. Schropfer created over $6 Million new EBIT dollars annually by building wholesale voice/data interconnections, prepaid Visa debit card programs and prepaid calling card programs with mobile carriers, fixed line carriers, second national operators and other partners around the world.
Building executive teams and negotiating strategic partnerships has helped Mr. Schropfer grow businesses in other positions, including his CEO role at a SaaS company in Washington DC where he built the C-level team, recruited key members of the Board of Directors, and raised over a million dollars of investment capital.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Schropfer was a Business Analyst and Business Development Officer for Capital One (NYSE: COF). In this role, Mr. Schropfer managed key aspects of a $240 Million business line, and improved ROI by $2 Million per year. He established partner relationships, designed and negotiated partnership agreements, developed complex business models and effectively lowed Capital One’s cost structure.
Prior to Capital One, Mr. Schropfer began his career as a business analyst, and created a 27% improvement in ROI for a $38 Million business unit of Federated (NYSE: FD).
Since graduating Boston College, Mr. Schropfer earned an Executive MBA from the University of Miami.
