NFC Times Exclusive – With the expected arrival of such OEM Pay services as Apple Pay and Samsung Pay as early as the first quarter of next year, Taiwan’s major telcos are gearing up to keep their own mobile wallets competitive.
As NFC Times reports today, at least two of them, Far EasTone and Taiwan Mobile, plan to adopt host card emulation technology in order to offer bank-issued payments cards, like Apple Pay and Samsung Pay will offer. The telcos also are offering other services.
Competing with the Pays
Perhaps best placed to offer a range of both payment and nonpayment services is Far EasTone, Taiwan’s No. 3 mobile operator and a part of the Far Eastern Group, one of Taiwan’s largest conglomerates.
