NFC Times Exclusive Insight – A U.S. district court judge has ruled that T-Mobile USA infringed an NFC patent held by Israel-based On Track Innovations.
UPDATE: It is unclear what remains to be decided when the case goes before a jury, but OTI America’s CEO Dimitrios Angelis said on Monday that “damages will be part of the upcoming trial,” and the jury portion of the trial will likely involve determining the amount of damages owed for infringement of the patent. The court is now expected to set a schedule of pretrial motions and a trial date.
“We are pleased with this decision and are preparing for the next state of this trial,” Angelis said in a statement Thursday. He summarized the ruling during remarks to investors and analysts on Monday, but declined to comment in detail on its implications or on OTI’s plans. “We are still evaluating and interpreting the complete ruling,” he said during the call.
