Israel-based On Track Innovations reported new orders for its NFC and contactless readers in North America, along with the first shipments of its NFC-enabled Wave attachment, driving higher revenue, though the vendor’s quarterly losses continued.
OTI said it recently received a $6.2 million order for its Saturn 6500 contactless readers from a channel partner, or reseller, in North America. Like the company’s previous large North American order of Saturn 6500 readers, this order is mainly for vending machines in the U.S.
CEO Ofer Tziperman, saying he believes Apple will support NFC in its next iPhone, contends that this would increase demand for both its contactless readers and its NFC Wave attachment, despite the fact the Wave had been primarily targeted at the market for iPhones without NFC.
