New York United States
Scope:
Trial
Employees and probably a few customers will be able to tap their BlackBerrys and iPhones to make payments, with the application stored on microSD cards inserted in the phones. The trial will last four months. IPhone users will require contactless sleeves with microSD card slots, provided by vendor DeviceFidelity.
NFC Times Take:
The trial will be at least the second by an American bank of contactless payment on microSD cards this fall, along with a planned trial by U.S. Bank. The cards enable the banks to offer contactless-mobile payment without dealing directly with mobile operators, which are planning their own contactless-mobile payment scheme.
* Trusted Service Manager: Defined loosely to include companies or other organizations securely distributing, provisioning and managing applications, generally over the air, on secure elements in NFC mobile phones; or licensing their platforms for this purpose.
