Scope:
Trial
Status:
Completed
Trial enabled users to pay fares after reportedly downloading tickets over the air. Organizers also said users could also get information on line closures, delays, and schedules when they tapped readers at bus and tram stops to pay for rides. They could get digital maps of the area around the stop on their phones by tapping a smart tag.
NFC Times Take:
Trial was one of the first uses for NFC chips and SIMs that supported an earlier version of the single-wire protocol standard. The SWP is a standard for NFC chips and SIMs with NFC apps onboard to communicate in phones.
* Trusted Service Manager: Defined loosely to include companies or other organizations securely distributing, provisioning and managing applications, generally over the air, on secure elements in NFC mobile phones; or licensing their platforms for this purpose.
N/A: Not available or not applicable.
