Crédit Mutuel also planned to issue 1,000 contactless cards for this trial, to be held at the Disneyland Resort in Paris. A small number of shops and restaurants at the amusement park accepting the payment from contactless cards or phones will reportedly offer discounts of 20% to 25% to encourage trial participants to tap to pay.
Crédit Mutuel, the strongest backer of NFC among French banks, for some reason believes an amusement park could help it further test the market readiness of the technology. But with reported plans to use the aging NFC prototype phone, the Sagem My770x, for the trial, the bank will no doubt need Mickey & Co. along with the reported offer of 20 euros free value and price discounts to spur trial participants to action.
