NFC TIMES Exclusive Insight – While UK consumers are taking to contactless payments, they appear to have no intention of replacing their physical cards with mobile wallets, says UK-based digital payments start-up Curve.
UPDATE: That is why the start-up launched a payments card that enables users to link to multiple payment card accounts and to control which card is used for the transaction, even up to two weeks after the original purchase. “We surveyed UK consumers recently, for example, and found that just 1% were planning to ditch their wallet for a purely mobile wallet in the near future,” Curve's Callum McCaig told NFC Times. “That's why it made sense for us to start out with a card.” END UPDATE.
Curve also offers a mobile app that enables consumers to load and manage the various Visa- and Mastercard-branded cards they want linked to the single Mastercard-branded payments card that users can tap, insert or swipe to make the purchase, just like they would other standard bank cards. The users can later switch the transaction to any card they have loaded in the app. This card funds the transaction.
