Komerční bank, one of the Czech Republic’s largest banks, is making an iPhone mobile-payments attachment available to its customers carrying the iPhone 4 and 4S.
The bank is making a limited number of the attachments, the iCarte, available, at a pricey 1,500 Czech crowns (US$75.55). Customers will need the add-on, along with the bank’s iPhone app, to tap to pay for purchases of up to 500 crowns (US$25.19) without entering a PIN code.
The device, supplied by Canada-based Wireless Dynamics, contains an NFC chip, as well as an embedded secure element. The latter chip stores a Visa payWave application, which customers could tap at acceptance points in the Czech Republic and elsewhere where payWave is accepted.
