NFC Times Exclusive Insight – At least one more of China’s big four banks, and perhaps two, have reportedly introduced mobile payments with host card emulation, following Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, which launched HCE-based service in May.
China Construction Bank last week introduced a cloud-pay feature to its mobile-payments app for Android phones. And Bank of China is saying it has launched with HCE.
There were few details available about the launches for either Construction Bank or Bank of China, but the China Construction Bank app will reportedly support credit and debit cards that carry the China UnionPay brand. UPDATE: The bank also was to support MasterCard Contactless, said a source, which would be the first Chinese bank to do so. Like ICBC's Visa payWave application, MasterCard Contactless would be used by customers when they make mobile payments outside of China. END UPDATE.
