Poland: Bank Trials iPhone Attachment with Visa payWave
Warsaw, Poland
Scope:
Trial
The Warsaw-based bank, operating under the mBank and MultiBank brands, is trialing an NFC-enabled attachment to the iPhone 4 and 4S for customers and employees. They’ll be able to tap wherever Visa payWave is accepted, including at merchant locations with about 35,000 terminals, according to Visa Europe.
NFC Times Take:
Yet another project with Wireless Fidelity’s iCarte attachment, which can NFC-enable the iPhone. The device, considered an NFC bridge technology, is used in South Korea, Turkey and Singapore, mainly in trials, with more planned. Poland, a contactless hotspot in Europe, will see rollouts with full NFC phones, likely in the first quarter of 2012.
* Trusted Service Manager: Defined loosely to include companies or other organizations securely distributing, provisioning and managing applications, generally over the air, on secure elements in NFC mobile phones; or licensing their platforms for this purpose.
